Festival season 2022 is finally upon us! Among the many festivals at the top of everyone’s lists, there’s bound to be a spot for the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, also known as Coachella.
After a two year hiatus, Coachella stormed back into the festival circuit with force. It proved that it is not just a space for influencers and Instagram pics.
It is a diverse festival that offers immersive spaces packed with unique art installations, top notch food, and a legendary music lineup for lovers of nearly every genre.
For many, it is the only festival they attend all year. Its proximity to L.A. makes it a hot spot for a huge variety of people from all over the world.
Below, check out our favorite moments and events that took place in and around this year's Coachella.
Electronic Music is Alive & Well: House Music Takes Over & Skream’s Surprise Dubstep Set
If you spent all weekend at Coachella, odds are you heard house and dubstep, whether you wanted to or not. EDM is sprinkling itself into and in between sets at almost every stage, and you can't say otherwise.
Sprouting from the southside neighborhoods of Chicago, House Music has become a generational amusement.
From the Twitter DJ—Hunter S. Thompson vibes of John Summit (we love you, John) to headliners at festivals like Swedish House Mafia, there’s no escaping its greatness.
Similarly, since making its way from the U.K. across the Atlantic Ocean to the U.S., dubstep has carved itself a nice little niche in the country.
Luckily, Skream (a UK dub and house artist) brought an old school take on his surprise dubstep set to Coachella to show the SoCal scene what’s up.
Billie Eilish Brings Out Gorillaz’ Damon Albarn & De La Soul
We all adore Billie, and if not, you have got to respect the talent and dedication to the craft.
To start, Billie Eilish made history as being the youngest person to headline Coachella. While making history, Billie brought out a crazy lineup of guest stars including Damon Albarn (of Blur and The Gorillaz).
Appropriately, Albarn (who is 54) joined in for the song “Getting Older,” and after, Billie helped cover Gorillaz’s “Feel Good Inc.” with another guest, Posdnuos (of De La Soul) lending a hand on the track.
Cannabis Brands Continue to Build Buzz Around Coachella
Although Coachella has come and gone, cannabis brands are building their long reputation around the L.A. festival.
As art and music will surely remain the principal headlining points of interest, cannabis will continue to be seen leveraging its advertising in the party scene.
In recent years, we have found the festival to be in the company of many upscale California cannabis brands trying to reach a specific consumer base that attends the festival.
It has been reported that these brands are geo-advertising, promoting, and hosting cannabis events near the festival grounds.
But, at the end of the day, cannabis is taking off and becoming more popular and who’s to say it is not good advertising? Just like Chicago and cannabis go hand in hand, so do festivals and our favorite plant.
